Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson

Born on October 25th 1984 (age 25) in Santa Barbara, California, United States and is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She began to pursue her music career during her freshman year of high school. In 2001 she released a self-titled Gospel album as Katy Hudson which failed, she also recorded an album with production team The Matrix and completed most of a solo album from 2004-2005, neither of these were released.

After signing on with her fourth record label in seven years Capitol Music Group in 2007, she adopted the stage name Katy Perry and during that November released her first Internet single, ‘Ur So Gay’, this gathered a lot of attention but did not chart. Her second single ‘I Kissed A Girl’ was the one that rose her to fame in 2008, which topped international charts.

Her first mainstream album ‘One Of The Boys’ followed later that year and was known to be the thirty-third best selling album of 2008 Worldwide, this album was also made platinum. Multi-platinum certifications were also given to her singles ‘I Kissed A Girl’ and ‘Hot And Cold’.

Perry also became known for her fashion styles, often combining bold colours and vintage fashion. Her most recent album ‘Teenage Dream’ was released on August 30th, 2010 Worldwide. She was also a Guest judge on The X Factor, covering for recently pregnant Danii Minogue.
